Patrick Bennett joins Vancouver Whitecaps residency programme
Congraulations to Patrick Bennett, formerly of Bays United and most recently with the BU17 Metro Team. He is off to join the Vancouver Whitecaps residency programme. Patrick is looking forward to starting the next stage of his soccer career and we wish him continued success.
Adam Straith, U20 Canada, Vancouver Whitecaps FC
(Born 1990)
Adam is one of 3 brothers who have all played soccer at Bays United. After playing in House League at Bays, and then Bays U12 Gold with his older brother Luke, Adam played U13 Victoria Selects and U14-U17 Metro. He was captain of his BC Provincial teams at U15-U17, during which time he also joined the Canada U17 team and played internationally. In September 2007, he was invited to join the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency Program, where he trained and played during his grade 12 high school year. In August 2008, he joined German professional club Energie Cottbus on loan, and he seems poised to become a regular with the Canada U20 team in 2009. His preferred position is centre defense, through he has also been known to play in midfield.
