    • U12 – U15
  • How to determine which level to attend for assessments: If players just finished their season as U12, they would be attending U13 assessments (because it's for next season).  For players who were in the combined U10/U11 division last season only those players who turn 11 in 2010 attend the U12 assessments (those turning 10 in 2010 will stay in the U11 division).

  • The Coaching Committee (CC) recognizes that during these ages there is a significant transition for players in terms of their development; therefore, they will focus additional energy to these ages. The assessment of all youth teams will be done by the Bays FC Technical Directors, Staff Coaches and Team Coaches to ensure that multiple persons are involved in the process. For this age group the player assessment will be modified by adding an ‘In-season Player Assessment’ which will link player performance during the season to the post-season player assessment. Therefore, this age group will have a 4 step player assessment:

    1.     In-season Player Assessment

    2.     Post-season player assessment – skills

    3.     Post-season player assessment – game situation 1

    4.     Post-season player assessment – game situation 2

If the assessment of the players is completed after the ‘game situation 1’ the technical director will have the option to cancel the ‘game situation 2’ or modify it to include only those players who require further assessment.

    • The assessments usually consist of several sessions focussing on a mix of structured soccer drills and tasks and small- and full-sided scrimmages. Drill sessions typically move the players through a number of stations for which numerical ratings will be generated. These tend to deal with speed, stamina and the basic soccer skills of ball control (air and ground), passing and shooting. In scrimmage sessions, players are assessed as to their playing ability in game situations. All scores and rating information is kept confidential.U16 – U18

The player assessment process at this stage is the same as the previous stages; however, the CC recognizes there is less transition between levels of participation and therefore will work to ensure the assessment process is not cumbersome or onerous for the registered players.

For more information on player development at these different ages, please refer to http://www.ltad.ca/

    Attendance

Attendance is crucial for all players trying out for Gold and Silver teams.  Assessments are optional for players wishing to play at a bronze level.  Registration is required for all players before assessments.

The top 12 assessed players (top 8 for U12) will be placed on the applicable team.  The remaining selections (4 to 5 players) are made by the team coaches.

    The Season

Bays United realizes that many excellent players may not be selected for a particular team, and some may be disappointed. We hope that all players will focus their energies on playing well for the team to which they have been assigned and on enjoying the game of soccer. Players should know that during the year, Gold coaches will take time to observe players on the Silver and Bronze level teams and assessments will be held again for the following year. Parents and players should also realize that it is club policy to do everything possible to ensure that all Bays United teams are provided with the best coaches possible and the opportunity to play high calibre soccer.

    Questions?

Questions about the assessment process or the sessions for the upcoming year should be directed to your coach or to the co-ordinator of the player's
current division, rather than to the division into which he/she will be moving.

FAQ for December 2008: What is our club's Intra-Club Permit Policy?

Bays United follows the LISA policy. LISA allows teams in a club to bring up players from a lower division to play in league games by using an Intra-Club Permit. Intra-Club Permits cannot be used for Cup Play. The Intra-Club Permit is found on the LISA Website in the forms page. A maximum of 3 players are allowed to be permitted for any given game.
