History
Bays United Youth Soccer Association is one of 11 soccer clubs in the Lower Island Youth Soccer Association and Lower Island Girls Soccer Association. These two organizations are the governing bodies for soccer clubs in the district. Their mandate is to administer and foster the development of soccer for youth.
The Bays United club has steadily grown since its beginnings in 1960 with the Lansdowne Soccer Association. Over the past 30 years the club has been part of several amalgamations with local neighborhood soccer associations in Victoria, Oak Bay and South Saanich. The team takes its name from two of these founding clubs, Oak Bay and Cadboro Bay.
The club's colours also come from these founding teams: black and white from Cadboro Bay and green from Oak Bay. The most recent amalgamation in 1998 brought together Bays United Youth Soccer and Oak Bay Girls Soccer Association. The club now offers soccer programs to some 1,300 youth and their families.
Bays teams come from the geographical area bounded to the west by James Bay, to the south by Gonzales and McNeil Bays, and to the east by Willows and Cadboro Bays.
